 A série de pinturas intitulada Dromos[1] constitui uma metáfora entre a dromomania (compulsão para caminhar) e os efeitos de aceleração e velocidade nas sociedades contemporâneas. A pintura é uma interpretação das minhas experiências nas cidades e combinam a realidade externa com os meus sentimentos subjectivos em torno de um lugar. &lt;br /&gt;  Crio “um mundo” paralelo ao que estamos habituados, fazendo-o mesmo com toda a participação.&lt;br /&gt;  As pinturas são baseadas em mapas de ruas tradicionais com as minhas impressões pessoais de uma actividade local. As faixas abstractas de cor juntam formas e símbolos reconhecíveis para comunicar o itinerário nómada de um viajante sobre um local. Afinal, a cor e as marcas se destacam por si sós, são testemunhos do fazer, mais que qualquer realidade.&lt;br /&gt;  A pintura, torna-se objecto de um trabalho de “deslumbramento do espaço”, sendo este segmentado através da sua divisão por linhas ou barras de intervalos das quais irrompem padrões, outras linhas perpendiculares ou diagonais, originadoras de desequilíbrios imprevisíveis no ritmo da cor e da composição gráfica da pintura. &lt;br /&gt;  Deste modo, há a permanente reinvenção de um espaço exterior numa superfície bidimensional, que convida o espectador a viajar numa “cartografia” cuja complexidade criam uma ilusão de profundidade espacial que explora a distinção entre um ambiente natural e um espaço manipulado. O centro da atenção não é o centro da pintura, pode estar em qualquer sítio e em todas as partes.&lt;br /&gt; Cada parte tem igual peso e nenhum fragmento concreto pode mais que outro. Não há horizonte nem perspectiva, nem ponto de fuga. Com isto, recordo o que Panosfky escreveu uma vez sobre a experiência de contemplar os quadros de Van Eyck: “o olho funciona como um microscópio e como um telescópio ao mesmo   tempo, de forma que o espectador se vê obrigado a mover entre uma posição afastada do quadro e muitas outras posições que se vão aproximando a ele.” &lt;br /&gt; A pintura é um lugar de experimentação dos modos de existência do espaço. É um lugar onde o espaço se constrói com outros espaços. Um trabalho que se faz com mapas, plantas, renderings de arquitectura que acabam por constituir-se num espaço em permanente trânsito, como lugar permanentemente em “mutação”.&lt;br /&gt; O espaço, conservando a sua qualidade abstracta de espaço, procura intensamente produzir significação e construir a sua densidade. “Algo” que Warhol percebeu como “o espaço é cada espaço e o pensar é cada pensamento, mas a minha mente divide determinados espaços dentro de espaços, dentro de espaços, e os pensamentos dentro de pensamentos, dentro de pensamentos.” &lt;br /&gt;  A pintura é o lugar cultural do espaço. Invento espaços, deste modo a pintura não se trata de um epistéme do espaço. O espaço pertence ao espaço antropológico e ao meu contexto individual. &lt;br /&gt;  Nestas pinturas trabalho com a noção de “unidades espaciais” (trata-se de um mapa). A topologia na minha pintura supõe que uma unidade de espaço possa instalar-se dentro de uma outra. &lt;br /&gt;As soluções desenvolvidas “por mim” podem tomar-se como nível de representação em pintura, tal como o espaço de diagramação do virtual e de planificação de espaços não existentes.&lt;br /&gt;  A pintura está ao serviço da meta-linguagem do espaço. A tela será o meta-espaço no qual todos os espaços caberão, pelo qual todos poderão passar.&lt;br /&gt;  “No decorrer da pintura”, o “excesso”, a distorção e o carácter físico do plano cartográfico interessam-me porque possibilitam a qualificação do espaço em abstracto. Os eventuais comentários específicos e conotações simbólicas sobre lugares convertem-se em algo esquisito, a pintura parece estar contra os mapas racionalistas.&lt;br /&gt;  O trabalho que realizo sobre a linguagem sugere que a literatura é uma acção visual; os códigos gráficos que proliferam na actual cultura dos média habituaram-nos à ideia de que as palavras e as imagens não se podem separar; para mim, reproduzir uma frase ou um símbolo nas telas significa executar um acto de memorização, de conservação, convidando o espectador a concentrar a sua atenção sobre as mesmas (como acontece quando nos deslocamos pelas ruas e vemos anúncios nos outdoors), identificando-nos e re-identificando-nos com eles.&lt;br /&gt;   Ao entender a pintura como um mapa, ela fornece representações do um mundo indicando o nome e já não o lugar. &lt;br /&gt;  A pintura convida o espectador a criar a sua própria história com relação aos ícones enumerados, uma história determinada e moldada para as particularidades do interlocutor, que faça uma leitura pessoal para “dar” às palavras, “informação e significado novamente às pessoas”. Em questão estão noções de mudança e renovação, a ideia de que os significados não são estáticos mas que mudam de acordo com o que somos e onde estamos em determinado momento.&lt;br /&gt;  O uso do Português, remete directamente para a origem do meu próprio contexto, e conduz indirectamente o espectador a um referente local, possivelmente desconhecido e por isso subjectivo.&lt;br /&gt;  A linguagem, escrita ou falada, está impregnada de valores simbólicos: imagens, ideias, emoções, sonoridades, grafismos, etc., em tudo o que exprime, mas também, numa certa medida, naquilo que não exprime.&lt;br /&gt;  Na utilização das palavras de uma maneira paradoxal e muitas vezes até próxima dos desconstrucionistas pretendo que as palavras “não queiram dizer nada”. Esqueço-me de que as palavras são símbolos de “alguma coisa”, se referem a algo que realmente existe, se digo a verdade, e não existe, se estou a mentir. Mas a possibilidade de averiguarmos se eu enquanto autor estou a mentir ou não, vem do simples fato de que “nós” (espectadores) também conhecemos as coisas a que se referem as palavras. Essa base comum da comunicação não é uma convenção, mas algo estruturado na própria realidade. Se alguém fala em “cidades”, todos nós sabemos o que elas são, e o sabemos porque elas realmente existem. Alguém pode não saber o que são “cidades”, mas não pode esperar que sua própria ignorância seja universalizada, muito menos pretender que o nível mental de todo o resto da população se nivele com o dele. Alguém pode até propor novas definições de”cidades”, mas a que vai valer na vida diária é aquela imediatamente reconhecida pela generalidade das pessoas. In &lt;em&gt;Princípio do fim?&lt;/em&gt; (2002-06) he transforms three satellite dishes. These are turned upside down and become different settings for a&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;historical narrative: miniatures of figures and other elements – such as trees and telecommunications – alongside light emissions corresponding to the primary colours, stage the passage of time. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div align="left"&gt;Ao realizar este projecto, a necessidade de estabelecer um “diálogo” com &lt;img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5218774524401326146" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 282px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 367px" height="384" alt="" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_M_0jaDIYpFQ/SGzPx5nMmEI/AAAAAAAAADc/9ebKCrjKShc/s400/28Junho+141.jpg" width="294" border="0" /&gt;as minhas pinturas e com a arquitectura levou-me a pensar que cada artista cria um espaço habitável. Talvez uma das aspirações de todo o artista é construir um lugar no qual se possa esconder de todas as inclemências da realidade. Metafórico ou real, este espaço é o que permite a criação da sua obra. A ideia de realizar um site-specific surgiu da necessidade de me apropriar de um espaço existente no meu estúdio de trabalho. Este projecto poderá ser muitas coisas: a materialização da ideia de projecto, uma pintura constituída por múltiplos suportes e também um mausoléu de informações e formas pictóricas em forma de construções arquitectónicas. O trabalho desenvolveu-se a partir de uma tela com 420 cm de comprimento e expressa o passo à arquitectura ou mais exactamente, a transformação in progress de um interior arquitectónico, do meu próprio lugar de trabalho e transforma-se num lugar de linguagem acumulativa. Deste modo e em termos formais, este projecto é uma pintura tradicional, mesmo quando cobre as paredes do espaço envolvente. Nesta obra está presente a ideia de serialidade – como uma série de séries, isto é, recorre a “iconografias” utilizadas nas minhas pinturas em tela que são transpostas para a superfície das paredes que formam o espaço arquitectónico. Os “motivos” reúnem-se em torno de uma só matriz: a pintura como lugar gerador de imagens, sem que ela própria possa ser reduzida a imagem. A pintura constitui o primeiro factor de aglutinação entre a segunda e a terceira dimensão. O espaço imaginário do quadro, situado entre a segunda dimensão da superfície e a terceira dimensão do volume, resulta num espaço em que se fazem realidade a ilusões pintadas e as formas perdem a sua univocidade impenetrável no jogo de ambivalências ópticas. Existem muitas formas de nos aproximarmos a realidade. De “súbito” não temos tempo nem possibilidade para ver, apenas ver, tudo aquilo que desejamos compreender. Na grande maioria dos casos, vemo-nos obrigados a recorrer a sucedâneos, com intermediários, para o pouco que somos capazes de alcançar. A pintura pode ser um bom território para esquivar estes inconvenientes, estes impedimentos e construir mundos próprios com a esperança de que nada se escapa, podemos vive-la desde que “nasce” até que a abandonemos (mas quando sabemos que acaba? Pode nunca terminar!). Este é também um cenário idóneo para pensar algo, que nos é impedido de conhecer de uma outra maneira. Cada parte tem igual peso e nenhum fragmento concreto pode mais que outro. Não há horizonte nem perspectiva, nem ponto de fuga. São o contrário do não-lugar segundo &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6"&gt;Michel&lt;/span&gt; de &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7"&gt;Certau&lt;/span&gt;, o contrário do lugar-dito-de (do qual quase nunca sabemos quem o disse nem aquilo que diz). »&lt;a style="TEXT-DECORATION: underline;color:#009999;" &gt;[1]&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A pintura &lt;em&gt;Não Me Encontras Aqui (Desculpa se te Deixei Tão Só)&lt;/em&gt; representa uma &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8"&gt;psicocartografia&lt;/span&gt; que fornece representações de um mundo indicando o nome e já não o lugar. Esta &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9"&gt;psicogeografia&lt;/span&gt; será então uma geografia afectiva, subjectiva, que pretende cartografar as diferentes ambiências psíquicas provocadas basicamente pelas deambulações urbanas. A pintura convida o espectador a criar a sua própria história com relação aos ícones enumerados, uma história determinada e moldada para as particularidades do interlocutor, que faça uma leitura pessoal para “dar” às palavras, “informação e significado novamente às pessoas”. Em questão estão noções de mudança e renovação, a ideia de que os significados não são estáticos mas que mudam de acordo com o que somos e onde estamos em determinado momento. O trabalho que realizo sobre a linguagem sugere que a literatura é uma acção visual; os códigos gráficos que proliferam na actual cultura dos média habituaram-nos à ideia de que as palavras e as imagens não se podem separar; para mim, reproduzir uma frase ou um símbolo nas telas significa executar um acto de memorização, de conservação, convidando o espectador a concentrar a sua atenção sobre as mesmas (como acontece quando nos deslocamos pelas ruas e vemos anúncios nos &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10"&gt;outdoors&lt;/span&gt;), identificando-nos e &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11"&gt;re&lt;/span&gt;-identificando-nos com eles. O uso do Português, remete directamente para a origem do meu próprio contexto, e conduz indirectamente o espectador a um referente local, possivelmente desconhecido e por isso subjectivo. A linguagem, escrita ou falada, está impregnada de valores simbólicos: imagens, ideias, emoções, sonoridades, grafismos, etc., em tudo o que exprime, mas também, numa certa medida, naquilo que não exprime. Com a utilização das palavras de uma maneira paradoxal e muitas vezes até próxima dos &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_12"&gt;desconstrucionistas&lt;/span&gt; pretendo que as palavras “não queiram dizer nada”. Esqueço-me de que as palavras são símbolos de “alguma coisa”, se referem a algo que realmente existe, se digo a verdade, e não existe, se estou a mentir. Mas a possibilidade de averiguarmos se eu enquanto autor estou a mentir ou não, vem do simples fato de que “nós” (espectadores) também conhecemos as coisas a que se referem as palavras. Essa base comum da comunicação não é uma convenção, mas algo estruturado na própria realidade. Se alguém fala em “mapas”, todos nós sabemos o que eles são, e o sabemos porque eles realmente existem. Alguém pode não saber o que são “mapas”, mas não pode esperar que sua própria ignorância seja universalizada, muito menos pretender que o nível mental de todo o resto da população se nivele com o dele. Alguém pode até propor novas definições de ”mapas”, mas a que vai valer na vida diária é aquela imediatamente reconhecida pela generalidade das pessoas. A pintura é um lugar de experimentação dos modos de existência do espaço. É um lugar onde o espaço se &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_13"&gt;constrói&lt;/span&gt; com outros espaços. Um trabalho que se faz com &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_14"&gt;psicocartografias&lt;/span&gt;, percursos imaginários, comentários e acabam por constituir um espaço em permanente trânsito, em permanente “mutação”.
